Janice Kerbel is a Canadian artist living in London, UK. Working with both print and performance, she has explored subjects ranging from plant life to violence to synchronised swimming. While her work takes multiple forms, a recurring interest in performative language underpins her practice.
Recent performances and solo exhibitions include: ‘Sink’, The Common Guild Glasgow; ‘Beautiful World, Where are you?’, Liverpool Biennial; i8 Gallery, Reykjavik; greengrassi, London (2018); ‘Alphabet’, Hamburger Kunsthalle; ‘Space Force Construction’, V-AC Foundation, Venice; ‘le grand balcon’, Montreal Biennial (2017); ‘Doug’, Serallves Foundation, Porto; (2016); Arts Club of Chicago (2013); Chisenhale, London (2011); and ‘Art Now Tate Britain (2010), amongst others. Kerbel was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2015.
