Hot Shots – Asian Icons by Russel Wong
Asia’s four most recognised movie icons are transformed from photography to fine art print by leading celebrity photographer Russel Wong. The innovative series of limited edition prints, created in collaboration with STPI, marks both Wong’s and the institute’s first significant integration of fine art printmaking with photography.
“I took each person’s personality, nationality and background into consideration, which is why each work is so different” says Wong.
Hot Shots run in tandem with Wong’s photography exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum and features both prints and photographs. During his residency at STPI, Wong created five arresting and thought-provoking works based on his portraits of four iconic Asian celebrities: Jackie Chan, Joan Chen, Michelle Yeoh and Aishwarya Rai. Each print explores the relationship between the person, the entertainment industry and the public––the cult of celebrity.
