STPI | Tokyo Pop-Up with Tabaimo and Teppei Kaneuji at Take Ninagawa Gallery

26 August - 1 September 2017

STPI continues to celebrate its 15th anniversary and goes to Tokyo under the umbrella of Singapore : Inside Out Tokyo at Take Ninagawa Gallery with Tabaimo and Teppei Kaneuji, whose works from STPI projects have been placed in museums and collections internationally.

At STPI, the artists pushed themselves further to the realization of new ideas continuing from their studio practice. Tabaimo – primarily known for her video works – created works that convey movement and depth, defying two-dimensionality. Kaneuji furthered his signature artistic language of collage, engendering the exploration of the relationship between the ‘formless’ image and the ‘tangible’ object. Both artists are luminous testaments to the spirit of innovation. Produced in collaboration with STPI’s team of professional print and paper makers in Singapore, these works have been included in collections such as 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan; Museum of Modern Art, New York; and Philadelphia Museum of Art.

For the past five years, STPI Gallery has been the only Southeast Asian gallery to take part in all three editions of the Art Basel fairs. Works produced by STPI have been acquired by institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York; M+, Hong Kong; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Benesse Foundation, Naoshima; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art; as well as been selected for biennales such as Yokohama Triennale and Venice Biennale.

This is a partner event of Singapore: Inside Out – an experiential showcase by creatives from Singapore and Japan, spanning across a spectrum of disciplines including design, music, fashion, sound, performing and visual arts. Held at BANK Gallery in Omotesando from 25 to 27 August 2017 and based on the theme of “HyperCity”, visitors can embark on a multi-sensory journey to experience interactive artworks, light projections, talks, hands-on activities and music performances.
